About the Mag

Unsung is dedicated to bringing fresh, underground music to readers who share our passion for great music. We are all about the culture of underground music, the musicians, the shows, the fan experience. Underground doesn’t have to mean small.

Unsung is the product of an idea and a friendship. Music, in general, has been the center of most of our adventures. Hours of driving, scheming to get backstage, 1 a.m breakfasts at IHOP, and more countless hours driving home pretty much sums up every all-nighter we’ve ever had together… and we wouldn’t trade those sleepless nights for anything.

We are always sharing music we like with our friends, family, and random strangers. I guess we’re the anti-hipsters?! We wanted to combine our passion for new music and our passion for media to create a project that was unique. Unsung is designed to be a conversation about bands, shows, music, and all of the excitement that comes with the underground music lover’s lifestyle. We love writing, photography, film, and music. What better way to spend our days than merging it all together?

We believe there is a certain culture attached to underground music. There is an unmatched passion and a unique intimacy you don’t get with larger shows. Its waiting for that EP to drop and anticipating summer tours. Its tracking down a radio show in LA online just to listen to a song by your favorite underground band and only tuning into to MTV shows to listen to the music being featured. There is a definite commitment from fans in the underground music world. If you’ve experienced it, you know what we’re talking about.

If there’s a band you think we should cover, we want to hear about it. If you have a concert tip, story, or question, we want you to share it. Our motto has quickly become that underground music doesn’t have to be small. It never has been for us.

I love the “anti-hipsters” concept…that says it all.
